On August 8th I turned 30 so we celebrated the whole weekend (though I must say by the time Sunday the 8th came around we were about celebrated out.) I'd been craving a new road bike that fits me better and has all the gears working. Well, Randy and I went shopping around to get a feel for what was available, but of course each time you ride a fancier bike your "needs" seem to increase. Wouldn't you know it, by the end it was the much nicer bike that seemed just right. As we discussed it we decided that the TREK 1.2 (the most basic one I tried) was really all I needed and that it would be perfect. Randy worked a lot of overtime that week since work was busy. What I didn't realize until he suprised me with the much nicer Cannondale Synapse Feminine, was that he had specifically asked his boss if he could work 9 hours overtime to make up the difference in cost, to get me the nicer bike without breaking the bank. Talk about a touching gift. We spent Saturday cruising around quaint, Europ-esque Leesburg and Waterford, Virginia. The only downer to the event was that I was so out of biking shape that we only made it 15 miles and I was pooped.
