Cabin trip

FYI- this is mostly just a journal entry for my own memory.
We've developed a tradition that every winter we go up to the cabin with some friends for a play in the snow weekend. We call it " Couples Retreat." This year was the first that none of our original couples could go, and it's sort of evolving into "Families Retreat," but it was still so fun to get out and enjoy the winter. Our next door neighbors, the Shores, came with us. They played on our broomball this season as well, and were the ultimate guests. We're excited abt our developing friendship with them. We had a return from the Wortleys, and the Longhursts (also on our broomball team- Longhursts as never called in subs.) Speaking of broomball, this was an awesome team this year. We actually won more than we lost! I did get stuck playing goalie- which is tricky with my emotional makeup ( it's hard to shake off being scored on.)
Ok- back to the cabin. All the others arrived late Fri night. We got there at 6 pm and it took 2+ hours to snow blow/ then plow out the foot of snow on the drive and get the place heated up. We had amazing weather- close to 30 during the days and still up in 20s at night. Sat morning we all went for a ski and enjoyed the rare pleasure of all the kids enjoying it. Returned. Put some kids down for naps. Skied again. Did a hay ride. Played a broomball game at the rink. Sweated it out in the sauna. Squeezed in a game of Up and Down the River and Mexican Train. Ate delicious food, of course, thru out. Sunday morning we cleaned up and raced out to try and beat the snow storm coming in. It's a whirlwind of a trip, and we're always exhausted by the end, but it's one of our favorite traditions since moving to Minnesota.

So fun! Thanks for inviting us! And you forgot to mention how Nathan saved Liam from the fire (which he still talks about to this day!) Good times!
