Visit to Mount Vernon

Since Randy is in Minneapolis for the weekend I decided to ride down to Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington. It's about 18 miles each way if you start near the monuments in D.C. and you can do the whole route on the Mount Vernon Trail, riding thru quaint old town Alexandria on the way. It's been on my to do list so I figured now was as good a time as any. It was my first time pulling the trailer, and it is definately more work. Wow, talk about tired.

James waiting as I set up the bike and trailer.
The trail runs along the Potomac River and often is wooden bridges to cross swampy regions.
George Washington's home. It is made of wood, but styled to look like big bricks/ stone.
I learned a lot about Washington there. He was a pretty cool dude. I can see why so much of our country is named after him. He had a big role in the U.S. becoming what it is.
 This is the kitchen.
Mount Vernon is famous for it's great view of the Potomac.
We were both super filthy by the time we got home just from the dust and mud that splashes on you while you ride a bike. Nothing a good bath can't fix.
