Randy and I decided to drive and meet up in Chicago for the weekend. We had never really been there before, but definately loved our Chicago experience. What a pretty city. We didn't realize when we planned the trip that it would put us there just in time for all the St Patrick's day celebrations. We acted fast, bought some festive hats and joined the green clad masses that filled the streets. We watched them dye the river green, and watched Bagpipers and Irish dancers parade down the streets.
We went to the Shed Aquarium for a bit of the tropics. The 2 hour wait in freezing wind and mist to get in made us really appreciate it. The don't call it the windy city for nothing!
We also made it a point to enjoy Chicago's finest Hole in the Walls. Breakfast at the famous Billygoat Tavern. Split an Al's Italian Beef Sandwich as a pre-dinner appetizer. We enjoyed Gino's East deep dish pizza as we read name s written all over the walls and tried to get more inspiration for baby names. All delicious. Randy saw them all a few months ago on a show called Man vs Food and has been dying to go to Chicago ever since then. Definately worth the recommendations.

That's so crazy that they dye the river green. That looks really cool!
Wow who knew Chicago went nuts for St. Patty's day!! That's awesome that they dye the river. Do you know what they used? I thought Waikiki was crazy, but it looks like Chicago tops it. I'm gonna have to remember the restaurant recommendations too for when we're in the area, they sounded sooo good. How are you holding up Chrissy? You look great in your pix. Pregnancy must not be phasing you, or at least you hide it really well!!
Hi Chrissy, i love seeing what you are up to and read your blog:)
Love the hats! It looks cold there! Hope you had fun! Baby girl comes this Thursday if not before!
I love the Shedd aquarium! Looks like a fun day!
I'm glad you enjoyed Chicago. We need to go back soon. Your house looks so good!
We wanted to have you guys over for dinner on Sunday since we were making that Macaroni Grill recipe you guys liked at the cabin, but I'm guessing you were in DC. We'll have to do it another time soon.
