Our house updates

As you can see our house is really starting to come together. This week the floors are in the process of being refinished and it makes such a big difference. On Saturday when I showed up at the house I noticed it felt warm- I guess warm would be an understatement. It was sweltering. I checked the thermostat and it was 90+ degrees in our house! ( I guess the floor guys turned it up temporarily to heat the place up, and then forgot to shut it off. I hadn't been to the house since Wednesday so who knows how long it was set that high- I guess our heating bill will let us know.) Well, the heat melted the ice dam over the kitchen which caused severe leakage to the point that the newly placed ceiling drywall is near caving in, there is a stream of muddy water that runs across our newly finished, but not yet sealed, tile floor along the wall and down into the basement. I sat in the corner and spent a few minutes crying in self pity and then spent the rest of the afternoon painting the staircase and sweating mightily. Reminded me of home:)

The kitchen ceiling looks much worse now. This was taken before Saturday. We are still waiting on the counters to be installed. We spend a lot of time waiting on these last few items that we've contracted out.

The house is looking really great! Keep up the good work. Sorry about the Ice Dam setback.... I feel your pain. If you want to commiserate, ask Mel about the time her ceiling caved in the day she bought our house. Tears were shed.

Yep- I feel your pain. Sometimes it can be discouraging, but the pictures look fantastic. I especially love how the living room turned out! I know you'll survive and it will be totally worth it! We can commiserate any time...

What in the world is an ice dam? We need a Florida translation! Look at it this way, you want to know all the problems now before you move in. Mom says that every cloud has a silver lining. We love you.

Wow it IS starting to look awesome inside! I love how open the living room is. Your floors are going to be fabulous. I'm so sorry that you had to come back to a sweltering ice damn breakage all by yourself. That is discouraging, but I know nothing can keep you down very long. Oh how I wish I was your neighbor and could come help work on the house!
